A New Lighting System in Your School Hall

We would like to purchase a lighting system for our hall. What do we need to consider?
  • Dimensions of Hall (Length x Width x Height). The ceiling height is crucial to choosing the right system. The plans of the space with a cross section view are useful in choosing the right system.
  • Type of roof structure. Are there cross beams or suitable structural hanging such as rigging points?
  • What free power is available to the hall from the main servicing switchboard?
  • Do you have 3 phase available from a switchboard, or only single phase power points?
  • If you have 3 phase power, do you have a 32 or 40amp 3 phase socket located somewhere in the hall available for use?
  • Do you have a stage that is fixed or portable? What are the dimensions and location?
  • Do you have the facility to hang lights?
  • What type of seating exists? is it fixed, racked or tiered - is it moveable?
  • Is the Hall multipurpose? Are other sporting events like basketball etc held in the hall? This will affect location and protection of equipment.
  • Do you have ladders, portable scaffold or a mobile lifter device available?
  • Does a control room exist or is it open plan?
  • What is the number of people that can be seated when in use for entertainment?
  • What type of entertainment and functions will the hall be used for?

We have students who require hearing assistance, what do I need to consider before purchasing equipment for our new building?
